Lephalale Pipe Cracking Project

Bit Base Solutions is currently undertaking the Lephalale Asbestos Pipeline Replacement Project using pipe cracking trenchless technology. The project involves the replacement of ageing asbestos cement water pipelines with new HDPE infrastructure while maintaining service continuity and minimising surface disruption to roads and surrounding services. Bit Base Solutions is responsible for the trenchless pipe replacement works, including site investigations, launching and receiving pits, pipe cracking operations, installation of new pipelines, connections, and reinstatement. The use of trenchless methods significantly reduces excavation, shortens construction time, and limits environmental and community impact. The project forms part of the municipality’s infrastructure upgrade programme to improve water reliability, reduce leaks, and enhance public safety by removing asbestos cement pipelines.
